What are the education requirements for a career in IT?

IT Education Requirements

The vast majority of IT professionals are college graduates with bachelor's degrees. The nature of the work makes this a minimum requirement of most job opportunities. However it's not an absolute requirement to have a college degree in order to get an IT job. Individuals that display high levels of aptitude can be hired into computer support specialist positions with only a high school diploma.

And while you'd think that most college graduates working professionally in the field of IT would have earned their credentials in computer or information sciences, the fact is that nearly three quarters of IT workers indicate their highest degrees were in other areas of study—offering an example of the diversity of the work available in the field of IT, even for those who may not be aware they qualify. Working with a staffing agency is an excellent way of determining if your credentials make you eligible for a career in IT.
